HOW TO WORK WITH GLUE IN THE SUMMER HEAT!

It's very hot outside again! And the heat wave will last even longer.

Whilst this is good news for everyone, it is bad news for estheticians as hot weather can often affect the adhesive performance of certain treatments!

Unfortunately we've had some estheticians struggling with their lash glue and the staying power of their lashes lately, and while there are many variables that can affect this, temperature change definitely plays a big part in this.

So how can you work in hot weather and make sure the glue sticks as it should?

HERE ARE SOME OF OUR BEST TIPS

Storage

It is very important that the adhesive is stored under the specified conditions. We recommend storing the glue in a cool, dark place where temperature fluctuations are unlikely and out of direct sunlight. It is also important to carefully close the adhesive again and again.

Humidity

Glue should be used under optimal conditions. Our adhesives work great at humidity levels of 40-70%. In order to be able to determine the optimal humidity, we recommend our digital hygrometer, which is a must for all professionals. The hygrometer measures the humidity and temperature in the room. Room temperature and humidity determine the drying time of the eyelash glue. The higher the humidity, the faster the eyelash glue usually dries. The properties of the adhesive are important here. A temperature between 18 and 23° and an average humidity between 40 and 70% is recommended.

Temperature

As the weather gets warmer and the heat increases, the adhesives behave very differently. If you're having trouble getting a stable room temperature of 18-23°C, you'll need to adjust the amount of glue you use.

Glue Shake

The warmer weather makes the adhesive ingredients more difficult to mix. Therefore, the glue must be shaken vigorously before use. Otherwise the second half of the bottle will be useless. If the glue is not shaken, the ingredients cannot mix properly. If the ingredients don't mix properly, the glue won't work the way it's supposed to. This then means that your customers' eyelashes/eyebrows don't hold up well!

Please remember: Shake the glue between 30 seconds and 1 minute each time.

With many beauticians working in a wide variety of conditions, there is no one-size-fits-all formula for adhesives that can be used in the coming heatwave. This time of year is probably the most difficult, so stay tuned. Use every possible tactic: air conditioning, humidifier, dehumidifier, proper ventilation, proper storage, and the right amount of glue. Prepare as much as possible and experiment wherever possible!
